Citadel Plantation Antiques at The Bennett House had a wonderful sale on the Saturday before Easter Sunday. We had more traffic on that day than on any previous occasion. We enjoyed meeting the growing community of folks interested in antiques and collectibles and all the old stories that go along with them. We also sold more pieces during our Saturday hours than on any other business day. THANK YOU to everyone! (I believe it was Gertrude out front, sporting her new decals, who helped. )
Although we go back now to our OPEN BY APPOINTMENT hours for awhile, please do not hesitate to let me know if you want me to open shop for you so you can browse our inventory. It would be a pleasure and there is something for everyone here, I promise. ---Jim (225-933-4578)
Citadel Antiques is OPEN TODAY, Saturday, 3-31-18 -- and "Gertrude" is out front sporting her new look to mark the occasion! Check out those "colors" we got for her. Drop in, look around at our extensive and newly arrived inventory and grab a cup of coffee. If you need anything delivered, we can use Gertrude to get 'er done! We send along our kindest Easter wishes to all our customers and our community.
So.....here's "Gertrude," our new Citadel Antiques pick-up & delivery wagon -- a 1993 diesel Chevy P-30 step-van, solid as the dollar, radio, heater, seat-covers and knee-deep in rubber. Does 60 mph max, w/ her 3 speed transmission. We acquired her from a bunch of singing Methodists up in central Mississippi who used to roll her up at revivals--apparently to poach Baptists found wandering in the piney woods. These smiling Protestants (happy 'cause of all those promises in the New Testament, I'm told) would climb on top with an amp, speakers and a microphone and belt out The Good News. You can call her "Gertie." We've ordered a fresh array of decals for her, so soon she'll be sporting new colors as she moves on from the gospel mill bidness to the antiques bidness.😉
Citadel Antiques is owned by Jim Clary, Jr. -- whose "real job" for the last 35 years has been as a trial lawyer and owner of ClarySuba & Associates -- a Baton Rouge law firm. Jim has been interested in antiques and history since the world was new. Over the years, this passion has resulted in a large personal collection of antiques and other rare items. Having enjoyed these pieces for all those years, it is now time to pass 'em on for new owners to enjoy.
