1800's Mahogany Post Office/Custom House Standing Desk

This unusual piece is a well-crafted mahogany standing desk once used in an old post office or custom house with the iconic inclined top -- lovely curved accents, along with symmetrical details. NOTE the carved panels on the front, which makes such a nice presentation. Also, note the original footrest, still in place! These are often long gone.
The construction is very solid, the design striking and the piece is ALL original, down to the eye-catching ORIGINAL hardware. Crafted during the mid to late 1800s or so, it would be the top feature in any room. It comes from an old NY estate.

You really have to see it to appreciate it as these old "custom house" standing desks are HARD to find in original condition. There are 5 drawers and 2 pull-out writing boards spanning the width of the rear -- again, ALL with ORIGINAL hardware.
