Antique 19th Century Intricately Carved Gothic Revival "Throne" Armchair
This beauty is a strikingly crafted wooden armchair made of walnut with ornate carved accents, amazing details and a rich, dark red brocade fabric. The fabric is likely a recovering occurring at some point in its past journey, but is well done. It comes from a Neville Plantation estate (Port Hudson, LA). The construction is very solid, the carving striking. Crafted around 1880-90, it makes a stunning statement as a storied feature in any plantation decor room. The chair is in an amazing condition -- NO substantive deficits considering it's age. NO loose joints or replaced hardware or incorrect screws -- none of that.
SALE PRICE: $1,275.00 -- A fair price as the comparables for anything remotely similar are well above this price.
The photos are provided to demonstrate the superb condition of this old antique "throne chair." We have dusted it off but have not otherwise tried to clean it...although, frankly, it needs little of that. The wood is very attractive and the crafted carving is both eye-catching and distinctive. This is a unique and lovely Gothic Revival plantation piece from "back in the day." All features are carefully integrated, with all carved details intact. The wood grain is toned and lovely, a great old patina -- as you would expect from a bold statement piece.
MEASUREMENTS and DETAILS: The pictures give an idea of the size but the chair is around 51" tall, 25" or so wide and 24" deep.
