Antique 19th Century Empire Dresser -- With ALL Original Hardware and Hidden Top Drawer
This piece is an all-original 1870s-era "3-over-3" Empire style hand-carved dresser with original hardware -- including the wooden pulls, which are usually damaged or missing. Here they are completely intact. The piece is 100% authentic, with its original working "hidden" top drawers present, along with the locks -- ALL complete and right. The key has been lost along its journey, but those are easily obtained online. It comes from a Neville Plantation outbuilding emptied in the 1990's when I acquired the property, where it had been stored for many decades.
It is a classic Empire piece from the mid-to-late 1800's and features a stunning "look," with striking patterns in the woods. The front feet are carved and striking. There are inscriptions on the back which we have not researched but that could bear either upon the maker or the original owners -- further inquiry is required. The construction is very solid -- this was NOT a cheap "knock-off" -- not back in the day and not now.
SALE PRICE: $870
The photos are provided to demonstrate the condition of this splendid old dresser, which was retrieved from a barn, after all! It has the marks of that service BUT is still absolutely SOLID IN EVERY RESPECT.
I have cleaned out the contents, dusted it off inside and out but have not otherwise tried to clean it. Even in its current condition, the wood remains very attractive and the crafting of the piece just knocks you out, honestly. All interior drawers slide in and out beautifully and the hand-crafted dovetailing is shown in the pictures.
