1800'S ENGLISH LAPDESK -- VERY INTRICATE INLAID WALNUT, ROSEWOOD AND EBONY!
This wonderful old 19th Century traveling piece is a all-original handcrafted English Lapdesk with wonderfully inlaid walnut, rosewood and ebony features. It folds up to the size of a large cigar box but opens to reveal numerous compartments and felted writing surfaces. All the felt, brass fixtures and hardware are ORIGINAL. It is from a Neville Plantation Estate and is 100% authentic, with its original working features intact -- ALL complete and right.
The lovely desk centerpiece is its hand-crafting and inlay, as noted in the pictures. It's gorgeous. The construction is very solid and the piece is NOT a cheap "knock-off" -- it is the real McCoy.
SALE PRICE: $500 No PayPal payments or checks. Please don't ask. The Buyer will appear in person and pay in CASH ONLY.
The photos are provided to demonstrate the condition of this rare English lapdesk -- especially the inlay and the fancy interior features. VERY cool!
The piece has the marks of that service BUT is still absolutely SOLID IN EVERY RESPECT. We have removed the contents, dusted it off inside and out but have not otherwise tried to clean it. Even now, the wood remains very attractive and the crafting is both eye-catching and distinctive. This is a unique and lovely piece from "back in the day." The lapdesk opens and closes beautifully -- the original hardware still working.
The locking mechanism still work AOK but the original key has been lost along the way. These are easily replaced online, though.
