ANTIQUE 1900-ERA "SHORT" OAK REGULATOR CLOCK FROM NEVILLE PLANTATION
This wonderful old oaken-framed regulator is an all-original, marked, "short" pendulum clock. It dates from around 1900, appears to have a cursive "Mars" makers mark within an inscribed oval on the face and works like a charm. It has a 7-Day wind and chimes to mark every hour -- 1 chime for 1 o'clock, 2 chimes for 2 o'clock and so forth. It still has the ORIGINAL pendulum, which is often missing. It was found on Neville Plantation in Port Hudson. The piece is 100% authentic -- ALL complete and right. It was removed from a Neville Plantation barn, where it had been stored for many decades and "liberated" after I bought the old homesite and surrounding acreage in the 1990's. It apparently comes from NY, judging from the tag on the rear, but may have once been used in a grocery store in nearby Spillman, Louisiana -- where some of the other items offered also were found. It is part of my personal collection -- I am not a "dealer." This is NOT a modern "knock-off" -- it is the real deal and, because of the "short" regulator style for the pendulum, it is rare. A true regulator clock collector would LOVE this piece.
SALE PRICE: $340
The photos are provided to demonstrate the condition of this old clock, which was retrieved from a barn, after all! It has the marks of that service BUT is still absolutely SOLID IN EVERY RESPECT. We have dusted it off but have not otherwise tried to clean or restore it. Even in its current condition, the clock stand remains very attractive and the crafting is both eye-catching and distinctive. This is a unique and lovely piece from "back in the day"
This cute regulator clock will make a SPLENDID statement in any room.
MEASUREMENTS and DETAILS:
