1800'S HAND CARVED/HAND PAINTED MARBLE-TOPPED EBONY BUFFET
1800'S HAND CARVED/HAND PAINTED MARBLE-TOPPED EBONY BUFFET -- VERY STURDY CONSTRUCTION WITH KNOCKOUT DECORATIVE ACCENTS AND ORIGINAL MARBLE
SALE PRICE: $3,900
This unique piece is a all-original handcrafted ebony buffet made during the 1800's. There are also 2 hand-painted cabinet doors with the ORIGINAL shelves inside. It is from a Neville Plantation Estate and is 100% authentic, with its original thick salmon-colored marble top completely intact -- ALL complete and right.
The lovely highlights of the buffet are the accents and hand-painting, which makes this piece unusual -- especially after you throw in the original marble, fashioned when they kept those THICK! The buffet was made by hand in every respect, as noted in the pictures. The construction is very solid and the piece is HEAVY. This is NOT a cheap "knock-off" -- it is the real McCoy.
The photos are provided to demonstrate the A-1 condition of this rare ebony buffet -- especially the fancy details and accents. VERY cool! (Look online and try to find another one, as they say. You won't.)
The piece has the marks of that service BUT is still absolutely SOLID IN EVERY RESPECT. We have removed the contents, dusted it off inside and out but have not otherwise tried to clean it. Even now, the ebony wood remains very attractive and the crafting is both eye-catching and distinctive. This is a unique and lovely piece from "back in the day." The original cabinet doors open and close beautifully. The ebony worn and lovely, a great old patina, especially after a proper reconditioning. BUT, its the marble, the hand-painting and the accents which make this like nothing you will see in the finest shops or on 1stdibs for double the price.
The locking mechanism still work AOK but the original key has been lost along the way. These are easily replaced online, though. This gorgeous buffet will make a statement in any room.
MEASUREMENTS and DETAILS: 66" wide, 15 1/2" deep and 42" tall -- a well proportioned, functional piece, even after all these years.
The buffet is graceful in its symmetry -- simple and elegant lines, as noted in the pictures. It has very appealing proportions and the accents and painting on the ebony frame make it POP. The door locks are all in place and a replacement key will work them fine.
