Antique 19th Century (1870) Renaissance Revival Walnut Petite Chair-Pair With Hand-Carved Accents -- From Neville Plantation, Port Hudson, LA
All-original walnut set of matching chairs with their original iron casters. These pieces are 100% authentic, with their original hand-carved frames and original carved accents -- ALL complete and right. It comes from a Neville Plantation estate, where they had been stored for many decades and "liberated" after I bought the old homesite and surrounding acreage in the 1990's. They are unmarked but dates well before the turn of the 20th Century -- probably around 1870. The construction is very solid. This is NOT a cheap "knock-off" and acquired some reupholstering along its journey -- done beautifully. NO tears or rips.
These chairs are handsome, petite and would be precious in a little girl's room or as flanking chairs.

They have the marks of that service BUT are still absolutely SOLID IN EVERY RESPECT and the reupholstering is professionally done and gorgeous. We have cleaned the set, dusted it off but have not otherwise tried to clean them. Even in its circulated condition, the ornately carved walnut remains very attractive and the crafting is both eye-catching and distinctive. This is a unique and lovely pair from "back in the day." All original hardware is intact -- including the old front casters. The wood grain is just worn and lovely, a great old patina, especially after a proper reconditioning, and the soft, elegant coverings are striking.
MEASUREMENTS and DETAILS: The chairs are graceful with their matched carved accents on the top and lower sections, as noted in the pictures. They have very appealing proportions. They are perfect as a functional set or would make cool accent pieces, as noted above.
