TALL ANTIQUE 1800'S EMPIRE STYLE GLASS-FRONT MAHOGANY CUPBOARD FROM NEVILLE PLANTATION ESTATE -- OVER 7 FEET TALL!

This wonderful piece is a all-original handcrafted mahogany plantation Empire-style glass-front cupboard with original glass and shelves --- made during the late 1800's. There are also 2 drawers on the bottom with the ORIGINAL pulls. It is from Neville Plantation and gives all the appearances of having been made on the estate, itself. The piece is 100% authentic, with its original working doors and shelving intact -- ALL complete and right. It was removed from a Neville Plantation barn, where it had been stored for many decades and "liberated" after I bought the old homesite and surrounding acreage in the 1990's. The cabinet was made by hand in every respect, as noted in the pictures. The construction is very solid and the piece is TALL --- right over 86 inches, or around 7' 2". This is NOT a cheap "knock-off" -- it is the real deal and was likely on the plantation when General Banks was banging away at the nearby Rebel fortifications at Port Hudson in 1863.

SALE PRICE: $2,300

The photos are provided to demonstrate the condition of this old mahogany plantation cupboard, which was retrieved from a barn, after all! It has the marks of that service BUT is still absolutely SOLID IN EVERY RESPECT. We have removed the contents, dusted it off inside and out but have not otherwise tried to clean it. Even now, the wood remains very attractive and the crafting is both eye-catching and distinctive. This is a unique and lovely piece from "back in the day." The original glass door opens and close beautifully as do the 2 drawers below. The wood grain is just worn and lovely, a great old patina, especially after a proper reconditioning.

This tall boy will make a SPLENDID statement in any room -- and could be reconfigured for one stunning gun cabinet.

MEASUREMENTS and DETAILS:

The cabinet is graceful in its Empire style symmetry -- simple and elegant lines, as noted in the pictures. It has very appealing proportions. The door locks once in place are gone -- but this does not detract from the piece. Moreover, those can be replaced. It is perfect as a functional item or would make a cool re-purposed gun cabinet piece.

Height 86″; Width 38″; Depth 12 1/2″.

100% all original. The shelving is original, all legs, hinges and joints tight and VERY COLLECTIBLE.
