1820's-Era Antique Plantation Oak "Rope" Bed -- Original "Screw-in" Rails. THIS is a Cool Plantation Throwback and RARE.
PRICED TO SELL at $500.
All original, complete oaken "rope" bed with the original screw-in bedrails. All hand-crafted from the 1820s or so -- definitely pre-Civil War. 100% authentic, a piece that is impossible to find nowadays in this non-traditional size and with its original hardware ALL intact, including original bedrails-- ALL complete and right on the frame. The ropes are no longer present but no healthy, serviceable rope could survive from nearly 200 years ago. ALL of the headboard cleats needed to receive a new rope network are present and AOK, just as it was originally crafted.
It is unmarked but the construction is solid -- all very heavy and sturdy. You WILL NOT see these old plantation survivors very often -- especially at this price.
MEASUREMENTS and DETAILS: The bed has very appealing proportions, especially for those of us who dig the old plantation rope beds -- even if it is a special size. Slightly bigger than modern-day twin size but nowhere near a double bed size either. Height 43″ for the matching foot & headboards; Width 53 1/2″ total and 50" wide for the mattress; Bedrail length is 74-75" -- just over 6 feet.
