SPECTACULAR ANTIQUE (c.1900) OAK SIDEBOARD WITH INTRICATE HAND-CARVED ACCENTS & ALL-ORIGINAL HARDWARE FROM NEVILLE PLANTATION ESTATE
This wonderful piece is a all-original oak sideboard with original shelves and hardware. The hand-carved accents are just "too cool for school." The piece is 100% authentic, with its original working doors and shelving intact, original carved accents -- ALL complete and right. It comes from a Neville Plantation barn, where this and other pieces had been stored for many decades and "liberated" after I bought the old homesite and surrounding acreage in the 1990's. The cabinet is unmarked but dates from the 1900 time period. The construction is very solid. This is NOT a cheap "knock-off" and sets off a room.
The photos are provided to demonstrate the condition of this sideboard, which was retrieved from a barn, after all! It has the marks of that service BUT is still absolutely SOLID IN EVERY RESPECT. We have cleaned out the contents, dusted it off inside and out but have not otherwise tried to clean it. The wood remains very attractive and the crafting is both eye-catching and distinctive. This is a unique and lovely piece from "back in the day." The original doors and drawers open and close AOK, although the key has been lost during its journey to the present. (Those can be easily obtained online, of course.) All original hardware is intact. The wood grain is just worn and lovely, a great old patina, especially after a proper reconditioning.
MEASUREMENTS and DETAILS: The cabinet is graceful with its carved accents on the drawers, cabinet doors and sides, as noted in the pictures. It has very appealing proportions. It is perfect as a functional item or would make a cool accent piece.
