As seen in the pictures, this distinctively styled mahogany magazine/smoking stand has very attractive "mid-century modern" lines. The original "hidden slide" to accommodate an ashtray is present. It comes from a New Orleans/Faubourg Marigny estate.
No damage whatsoever to the item, so it has kept well over the years. The pictures are complete and accurate. All original with everything in place. The photos are provided to demonstrate the A-1 condition of this old stand. I have dusted off & wiped down the item, but have not otherwise tried to clean it. Everything is original, including every single flat-head screw, which holds the stand together tightly. NOTE THE COMPLETE ABSENCE OF PHILLIPS SCREWS, WHICH WERE INTRODUCED IN THE 1930's So, this piece could be earlier than the 1930's.
MEASUREMENTS: 9" (or so) wide at the top & 32" tall & 10"(or so) wide at the base. 100% all original. All of the joints, connections and working parts are in great shape.
INSCRIPTIONS: None that we can see.
VERY COLLECTIBLE or would make a great accent piece. I have no guess at its history, other than it comes from a New Orleans Faubourg Marigny estate.
