Check out our new delivery wagon!

So.....here's "Gertrude," our new Citadel Antiques pick-up & delivery wagon -- a 1993 diesel Chevy P-30 step-van, solid as the dollar, radio, heater, seat-covers and knee-deep in rubber. Does 60 mph max, w/ her 3 speed transmission. We acquired her from a bunch of singing Methodists up in central Mississippi who used to roll her up at revivals--apparently to poach Baptists found wandering in the piney woods. These smiling Protestants (happy 'cause of all those promises in the New Testament, I'm told) would climb on top with an amp, speakers and a microphone and belt out The Good News. You can call her "Gertie." We've ordered a fresh array of decals for her, so soon she'll be sporting new colors as she moves on from the gospel mill bidness to the antiques bidness.😉

Please join us at The Bennett House for a full Labor Day of "antiquing." We will be open from  9 AM (or so) until 6 PM (or so). There are a lot of fine antique statement pieces available, along with many unusual smalls, cool art, funky folk art pieces, historical pieces, plantation antiques -- and LOTS of new stuff. Swing by, grab a cup of coffee and take a look! Hope to see you there!   ---   Jim

We had a nice weekend at Citadel Antiques as many antique hunters braved the rain on Saturday to come to The Bennett House and check out our inventory. Sunday dawned as a gorgeous, clear day, though -- but HOT.  While we enjoyed our customers, we were especially pleased to welcome our neighbors--The Oaks Subdivision Homeowners' Association--who used The Bennett House's back room for their Association meeting. Their chili dogs were AWESOME. (As long as they feed me a chili dog, they are welcome back whenever they'd like!)

    OWNER

Citadel Antiques is owned by Jim Clary, Jr. -- whose "real job" for the last 35 years has been as a trial lawyer and owner of ClarySuba & Associates -- a Baton Rouge law firm. Jim has been interested in antiques and history since the world was new. Over the years, this passion has resulted in a large personal collection of antiques and other rare items. Having enjoyed these pieces for all those years, it is now time to pass 'em on for new owners to enjoy.
